Help with inserting images

Hello everyone,

I am a novice Twine user, planning to create some lectures with lot of images (one or two in each screen) and having problems inserting pictures.

Using absolute path is working (using <img> in Harlowe) but that is not possible if I want to give these lectures to colleagues for review.

I tried copying pictures to the Stories folder (next to story HTML) and to the folder where Twine executable is present, but I am unable to refer the images using relative path of images.

Reviewed forums for help and some questions related to HTML help, but none of them really helped.

So my questions are, What is the root folder for Twine program and how can I use relative paths for images in Twine 2? or is there any other better method for inserting images?

Thank you very much for your help.

  • This has been discussed a number of times before but basically the only simple way to use relative path based images with Twine 2 is to use the Publish to File option to create a HTML file version of your lecture within a folder of your choice and then to base your relative paths on that folder. You will need to keep using the Publish to File option to build a new version of your lecture each time you want to see the images.

Once you are finished creating your lecture you can give your colleagues a copy of the folder containing your story HTML file and the images.

If you were not using the Harlowe story format I would of also suggested changing to Twine 1.
