I made several images that create an animation when they're being displayed one after another, but I'm not sure how I can implement this in Twine. I want the sequence of frames to start after a button is being clicked, perhaps somebody has some experience with this and can help me out?

Why don't you just convert those single images into a gif animation using a drawing program or something similar.
