[Harlowe] Having trouble with a hook and just can't figure it out

Hi all,

I'm stuck with a passage. I've written the following:

*Two dozen of them squeezed into three floors. The attic was reserved for [Marcus Shane]<shaneident| the big daddy of the whole outfit.*

And then at the bottom of the page I have:

(click: ?shaneident)A real character. Trust me.

So, the linked passage shows up on my story outline page, with the right arrow and everything, but for some reason the initial hook won't show up as a blue link when I play/debug the passage. And so the corresponding link won't appear later on.

Any ideas? Is it a problem with it being in italics?

Thanks in advance.

  • The problem is you've got 2 sets of square brackets around the second hook. So Twine is interpreting it as a link. The following works:
(click: ?shaneident)[A real character. Trust me.]

  • Ah, sorry. I think I explained wrong.

The second hook is supposed to be a link. I'm trying to make the link appear when the first hook is clicked. For some reason it's not interpreting it as a hook. It doesn't come up in blue, just as regular text.
  • Just went through it again and I had a bracket in the wrong place elsewhere in the text! Solved.
