Cannot export anything playable

edited August 2015 in Help! with 2.0
Hi there,

I've been merrily building a story using Twine 2. It works perfectly when I play it in the Twine editor. However, when I export it to HTML and try to open it in the browser, I get the raw Twine code.

(ex: KitchenYou're in the kitchen. Your phone lies on the kitchen table. Drinking Phone)

I tried to search it up but can't seem to find any other instructions than "Export to HTML and play!", so I'm assuming this isn't normal. I also tried uploading it to philome.la, but it doesn't recognize it as a Twine-file.

Any ideas?

EDIT: changing the format to snowman and then back to Harlowe fixed it somehow.

  • The option you should be using is the Publish to File option, this will create a story HTML file which will contain all your story passages (Text, Stylesheet, Javascript) as well as the story format's Javascript engine.
  • That's what I did, and that resulted in the raw code. As edited in the OP, when I changed versions it somehow solved it.
