How to add multiple variables within links?

Hi all. New to the forum, looking forward to learning and contributing!

I'm trying to add variables into link descriptions, but can't find the answer online.

I want to write a link that places variable names inside. For example:

[[My name is $playername. This is my sidekick, $sidekickname.|Introductions]]

Is there a way to do this yet within Twine? Any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Looks like you can do it like this:

[[My name is <<print $playername>>. This is my sidekick, <<print $sidekickname>>.|Introductions]]

Haven't tested that, but it's per the Manual: http://twinery.org/wiki/display#using_a_variable_to_display_a_passage

I tried:

[[Because it's not <<print $slangy>> to feel <<print $feeling>>.|Because]]

And it printed the variables as $variables instead of their assigned values.

Yes, but in that section it explains <<print>> with a usage example. I didn't see it explained anywhere else in the Reference.

The old way to put variables in links was to wrap the entire twee link in a print statement. 

<<print "[[My name is " + $playername+". This is my sidekick, "+$sidekickname+".|Introductions]]" >>

And it still works here in 1.4 if you want to include, as in your case, text with your variables.
