Where can I find information on the (passage:) datamap?

I have seen in one example that the active passage has a dynamic datamap (if those are the words I'm looking for), called as follows.

(set: $passage to (passage:))

I already checked the documentation on Neocities, but it doesn't mention this anywhere (unless Ctrl+F is lying to me). Where can I find information on this particular data structure? It looks really handy.
