No spell-check in Twine 2.0.8 standalone app for OS X?

I'm guessing the app isn't just a traditional browser wrapper, but I've noticed that none of OS X's built-in spellcheck options are available (for that matter none of the services are available at all, either.) Having Twine in its own app is a very handy thing now, but it's still a pain having to open another text editor to check spelling before cutting/pasting it back into the app. Any chance this will change? Thank you!

The downloadable/installable version of Twine 2 is a node-webkit (nw.js) application, you can think of it as basically a web-application that is embedded within it's own customized Chromium based web-browser.

For any OS (OSX, Window, Linux) built-in feature to be available support for that feature needs to have been added to either the Chromium engine, the nw.js runtime, or to the Twine application itself (directly or through the Javascript libraries the Twine application uses).
  • It looks like this will be a feature of an upcoming release of NW.js -- but the version where this is implemented, 0.13, hasn't hit beta yet so it's going to be a while still before this is possible.
  • Thanks. I've tried making it a SSB application via Fluid in the past, which does support Services and spell checking, but for some very odd reason it never seems to properly save any stories saved in it even if I separate the cache (or even use the Safari one.)

Oh well, textmate needs to be open at the same time then I suppose.
  • Out of curiosity, was there any further progress with this? I can't tell from the github link if it was implemented or not but I'm curious.
  • That nw.js github issue states that a --enable-spell-checking switch was included in the 0.13.0-alpha1 release, and the stable release of version 0.13.0 of nw.js has not been released yet.
  • They are up to NW.js v0.13.0-beta.6 though, so the next release of Twine 2 (after the pending Twine 2 v2.0.11) may very well be built upon NW.js v0.13.x.
