Hi everyone! I'm new to Twine  I've been playing around with it for about 20 minutes and it worked flawlessly  Then I hit the archive button to save what I already made, so I don't have to worry, I had a window to choose a folder  .. And then Twine froze  Entirely, the whole system. I barely managed to close it and had to restart my laptop. I ran it again and it is currently just white background and the system is frozen again. Any advice  please

My system is Windows 8.1, 4GB RAM.

Were you using the install-able Desktop release or one of the web-browser based released?

If it was one of the web-browser based releases then which web-browser (brand, version, 32/64 bit) are you using?

(I'm assuming you're talking about the offline version of Twine 2, not the online version.)  The most common cause of the "white background - won't open" problem is a corrupt "User Data" directory.

To fix this, open Windows Explorer (not to be confused with Internet Explorer), then navigate to "C:\Users\(your user name)\AppData\Local\Twine" and there should be a "User Data" directory there.  Rename the "User Data" directory to anything and then try opening Twine again.  If that works, then just delete that renamed directory.

If that doesn't work, we're going to need more details, but usually that does the trick.

Also, you don't need to hit the archive button to save, that's all done automatically.  The archive button is more for backing everything up elsewhere.

As for Twine locking up, I've had that happen for me when clicking the "Languages" button, after which it corrupted my "User Data" directory.  I just don't click that anymore.

Hope that helps!  :-)

Hi! Thanks a lot, it all helped, now I am already playing with Twine more and having so much fun!

And thank you for the archive tip :D I'm just scared to lose what I already have, but this is good to know :)

Best regards!
