I am interested in creating a multiplayer game.  I know  this would probably be difficult because Twine runs client side, but has anyone implemented a  reactive game that allows for real time server updates?

I believe the Announcing 'Somewhere', a Twine game for mobile thread on the old forum archive may be of some interest to you.

I believe since you have JS you can do anything. For example a nodejs server, using websockets. Thing is : how would you do a multiplayer visual novel ? I think it's more a matter of design, on how you'll be using Twine for this, because if you do a multiplayer game in a Twine page but composed of 95% JS, does it still worth using Twine ? Besides that, I think there are good ideas in there (I did a multiplayer visual novel long time ago and it was fun)
Welcome to Twine Q&A, where you can ask questions and receive answers from other members of the community.

You can also find hints and information on Twine on the official wiki and the old forums archive.
